A Warm Welcome to
the Senior Common Room
From its humble beginnings in the early 1950s, the Senior Common Room has been a meeting ground for senior members of the University where they can interact socially in a relaxing environment and a dignified venue where visitors and guests can be entertained. Many social and cultural activities organised by the staff for the staff, departmental Christmas parties, Chinese New Year gatherings and official University functions have created fond memories for generations of teachers, students, professional service staff, their families and visitors. Located in the heart of the HKU Campus, we are proud to say that we have three restaurants with a wide range of food and beverage offerings and facilities.
Ming Pavilion, located at 14/f of the KK Leung Building at the Main Campus showcases a contemporary Chinese restaurant. It features dim sums handmade daily by our Chefs as part of a refined Cantonese menu, with Shanghainese delicacies. These are sll to be enjoyed in our spacious dining hall with a quiet ambience. Private dining rooms and multi-purpose function rooms with modern AV facilities are also available to serve our members and their guests.
Café 1951 offers international comfort food, fresh juices and coffee blends that are especially curated for the Senior Common Room. It is located on the 15th floor of KK Leung Building with breath-taking views of the Victoria Harbour and Tsing-Ma Bridge beyond the high rises of Hong Kong. The bar has also made a comeback! There is also plenty of space for events, gatherings, co-working and meetings.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Senior Common Room.
